Sri Lanka

I must confess that I received today my first envelope from Sri Lanka with particular emotion. Besides being the first, the stamps evoke the dramatic day when the Tsunami decimated hundreds of thousands of lives and left a ballast of destruction around.
The scenes of that tragedy are still vivid in our memory and each of the 3 stamps of this series is an eloquent lament:
LKR 5,00 - Destroyed Post Office of Kalmunai (Eastern Province);
LKR 20,00 - Train disaster in Kahawa when the tsunami waves struck the train, taking more than 1.500 lives (Southern Province);
LKR 33,00 -Tsunami waves entering the Port City of Galle (Southern Province).
Thank you very much, Ravindra!
