New nice cover from Italy (Milano).

The stamp on the right (€ 0,62) is a 2006 issue, celebrating the 60th anniversary of the cars & motos top magazine "Quattroruote".

The stamp on the left side (L. 50) is a 1974 issue, by the occasion the "14th International Congress of Wine and Vineyard. This stamp reproduces a mural painting of the century 15th on the harvest of wine grapes.

Bystre village is located in Podkarpackie province. In the years 1975-1998 this town administratively belonged to the Krosno province. The village is situated on the route of wooden architecture and reflects the region. Bystre powtało at the end of the first half of XVI century. In this picture, the Orthodox church.

Nice postcard with a view of Częstochowa city.

"Częstochowa is a city in south Poland on the Warta River with 248,894 inhabitants (2004). It has been situated in the Silesian Voivodeship (administrative division) since 1999, and was previously the capital of Częstochowa Voivodeship (1975-1998). However, Czestochowa historically is part of Lesser Poland, not of Silesia and before 1795, it had belonged to the Kraków Voivodeship.
The town is known for the famous Pauline monasteryof Jasna Góra that is the home of the Black Madonna painting, a shrine to the Virgin Mary. Every year, millions of pilgrims from all over the world come to Częstochowa to see it. There is also a Lusatian culture excavation site and museum in the city and ruins of a medieval castle in Olsztyn, approximately 15 kilometres from the city centre."

Sri Lanka


I must confess that I received today my first envelope from Sri Lanka with particular emotion. Besides being the first, the stamps evoke the dramatic day when the Tsunami decimated hundreds of thousands of lives and left a ballast of destruction around.
The scenes of that tragedy are still vivid in our memory and each of the 3 stamps of this series is an eloquent lament:
LKR 5,00 - Destroyed Post Office of Kalmunai (Eastern Province);
LKR 20,00 - Train disaster in Kahawa when the tsunami waves struck the train, taking more than 1.500 lives (Southern Province);
LKR 33,00 -Tsunami waves entering the Port City of Galle (Southern Province).

I enjoyed this pleasant trip to the following Polish cities:
TARNOBRZEG (a town in south-eastern Poland, on the east bank of the river Vistula, with 49,753 inhabitants, as of 30.06.2008. Situated in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship (Polish: Województwo Podkarpackie) since 1999, it had previously been the capital of Tarnobrzeg Voivodeship (1975–1998).
BACHÓRZEC (a village, with a population about 950 people, in the administrative district of Gmina Dubiecko, within Przemyśl County, Subcarpathian Voivodeship, in south-eastern Poland. It lies approximately 5 kilometres (3 mi) west of Dubiecko, 32 km (20 mi) west of Przemyśl, and 33 km (21 mi) south-east of the regional capital Rzeszów).
PRZEMYSL (a city in south-eastern Poland with 66,756 inhabitants, as of 30.06.2008. In 2006, it became part of the Subcarpathian Voivodeship; it was previously the capital of Przemyśl Voivodeship).
